The 21st novel on which Patrick O'Brian was working at the time of his death has appeared as a fragment(The Final, Unfinished Voyage of Jack Aubrey). Usul10154. The twenty-book series can nevertheless be regarded as complete - the two official Admiralty orders that Jack Aubrey receives shortly after the beginning of 'Master and Commander' and on the second but last page of 'Blue at the Mizzen' perfectly bracket the whole story.
